Facelift Procedures: Should I Go Under The Knife Or Go Non-Invasive?

When it comes to the maturing of one’s skin, the process can affect each individual differently. Some embrace the lines tracing across their cheeks with a loving embrace, viewing them as reminders of all their joyful times. Others view the deepening creases as too great a reminder of their lost youth; they feel their appearance doesn’t reflect their interior age. So, they begin looking into their options, and most turn to a facelift as a first option. But, because each face ages in a unique manner, there are various procedures developed to target specific areas of concern.

When researching the ideal facelift procedure for your skin type, another factor to consider is what the skin’s maturity and elasticity levels. If you’re just beginning to see signs of maturing skin, then going under the knife doesn’t have to be your only option.

During an initial consultation, Dr. Kassir will gauge how extensive your skin’s aging is and determine whether you would be an ideal candidate for a non-invasive facelift (liquid facelift). If you’re in good health and are noticing your skin starting to sag around the mouth and jawline, a combination of dermal fillers and botox (dysport) can be used in order to lift and contour the face for a fast non-invasive resolution to aging.

Because this treatment is a blend of dermal fillers and botox, the majority of the procedure lasts for about a year and is dissolved by the body as it metabolizes it over this time. Dermal fillers are composed of the substance, hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced by the body, but diminishes over time. Dermal fillers plump up the skin and rehydrate the dermis, creating a smooth and rejuvenated appearance.

If you’re interested in learning more about this procedure or any of our other beautifying treatments, please feel free to reach out to info@drkassir.com or call our offices at 212-288-3000 to set up a consultation.

Facelift NYC - Facial Implants

While the modern facelift operation has progressed much past the methods of the 20th century, it focuses on the soft tissues as opposed to the bones. Experienced facial surgeons may finely tighten the tissues, muscles, and the skin of the face to rejuvenate the look. Surgeons can also utilize fat injections or dermal fillers to undo facial mass reduction. With these methods, a plastic surgeon may clearly reestablish the facial skin with natural-looking outcomes. However, to satisfactorily address age-related bone reduction and reach the most striking outcome, it might be a good idea to integrate facial enhancements into the facelift operation.

Chin implants are all utilized to boost a receded chin and also enhance the definition and balance of their profile and neckline. Jaw angle enhancements or facial scrubs are utilized to boost a little jaw and reestablish jaw definition reduction out of sagging jowls. Since research demonstrates that bone loss happens as we age, bone enhancements may be equally as essential for facial treatment as muscle and skin tightening. Facial implants are very long lasting and may improve the outcomes of facelift operation. When put on the bones, implants function within your face skeleton and may encourage the delicate tissues in their recently tightened and raised positions. Strengthening the facial arrangement with implants may counteract the reduction of bone definition because of aging and restore a young, natural-looking overall look.

Facelift NYC - Financing

Facelifts are optional procedures and therefore aren't covered by insurance coverage. Yet, many surgeons provide you exceptional facelift surgery financing choices to pay the price of facelift surgery, such as surgical penalties. Physicians accept charge cards, check, and cash. Many professionals also supply sizable reductions when processes are compensated for in total. Patients must ask about repayment strategies. Some physicians provide reasonable fixed-interest or perhaps no-interest financing choices for people with credit.

Third Party Financing

When individuals are exploring their financial alternatives, they ought to also find out more about external financing choices. Medical funding choices are designed especially for optional procedures, such as facelifts. Suppliers provide fixed rates of interest and a few patients may even acquire no-interest funding should they cover their process in a particular time frame. Other patients may take loans out to utilize similar funding choices to earn a facelift, a fair and very reasonably priced choice.

Male Facelifts on the Rise

Cosmetic plastic surgery has been historically and typically viewed as something undergone solely by women. However, the past decade has seen a consistent increase in men seeking procedures for facial rejuvenation and enhancement. Traditionally, men predominantly focused on the appearance of their physique, but the current competitive climates of the workplace and dating world have challenged ideals of masculine beauty and have made facelift surgery the ideal procedure for men to maintain an overall youthful aesthetic. Additionally, the growing destigmatization of male cosmetic procedures is making it more socially acceptable and cherished for men to undergo operations such as facelifts.

A male facelift has numerous benefits such as depleting the face of excess skin and fat to acquire a more structured, tightened facial appearance while maintaining the rugged and masculine features of the male face, and rejuvenating loss of facial volume. Precise surgical incision techniques are practiced to limit scarring and operative methods are tailored to the individual for their most desired, natural looking results.

Facelift NYC - What is the best age to get a facelift?

There are many misconceptions regarding at what age it is best or appropriate for a patient to undergo a facelift. However, there is certainly no magic number and individuals greatly vary genetically, physically, and in their lifestyles and preferences. If a patient has experienced laxity and decline of facial tissues, they are a potential candidate for a facelift regardless of their age. Eligibility for a facelift at later ages is largely dependent on the status of one's physical health. A huge factor that influences whether or not a facelift procedure may be appropriate for a given patient is one's subjective feeling about themself and their appearance within their age bracket. Typically, it is recommended that a person be between the ages of 35 and 65 with the average, prime age at approximately 45 to 50 years old.

Seeing that the goal of a facelift operation is to reduce the visible appearance of aging and preserve the face, the sooner the marks of aging are acknowledged and maintained/corrected, the more youthful, desirable, and lasting the results. While this is often desired in younger patients, older patients (typically 60+) with more drastic signs of facial aging may not desire more noticeable, excessively youthful results which may occur.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment: The Perfect Solution For Post-Pregnancy Woes

There’s something magical flowing through our bodies. Our blood. It has the power to supply our bodies with life through oxygen, sugar and hormones to our cells, while it whisks away the impurities and waste from them. It also has the miraculous healing capability provided by its clotting agents, like platelets.

The beauty of blood is that it can bring life back to our bodies when our environments and hormones are turning against us. This happens often during and after pregnancy. Though having a child is a wonderful experience, the effect that birth has on a woman’s body can drain away her vibrancy and have a destructive effect on her body. Many women suffer from the emotional and physical impact of the drastic hormonal shifts, which can cause hair thinning and loss, stretched vaginal introitus (vaginal opening) abdominal muscle separation called, diastasis recti, and a multitude of other physical conditions.

Though all of these are major concerns for any woman postpartum, the two leading struggles women tend to have are with visible hair loss or thinning, and vaginal stretching. Though both seem like they’re nearly impossible to overcome, there is actually a treatment that is incredibly effective in restoring these areas back to the way they were prior to pregnancy.

Platelet-Rich Plasma treatments (you know the vampire facial Kim K had done? This is it!) are incredible solutions to these post-pregnancy woes. The PRP treatment uses the patient’s blood, which is then placed in a centrifuge that separates the platelets from the rest of the fluid. The concentrated platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the areas of the scalp that are thinning or void of hair follicles. The blood then regenerates the hair follicles that have turned off and stimulates growth and healing.

For vaginal improvements, the PRP treatment (or the O Shot) is injected into the vaginal tissue. The shot will not only tighten the vaginal opening and create younger, smoother skin around the vagina, but also increase arousal, strengthen orgasm, and stimulate natural lubrication.

Typically, PRP procedures are done monthly for about 3-4 treatments. The length of time that results will last can vary depending on skin type, age and other treatments that could influence results. Roughly, treatments will last anywhere from 8 months to a year. Then will require touch-ups every 6 months.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment:

Platelet-Rich Plasma treatments became popular a few years ago when Kim Kardashian had a vampire facial. But beautifying the face is just one of the many incredible ways that PRP can be used to help stimulate the body’s healing.

The PRP treatment uses blood drawn from the patient’s arm, which is then placed in a centrifuge and propelled at a high speed to separate and concentrate the platelets. This concentration contains anywhere from two to 14 times the amount found in normal blood. This is then injected into the area of interest to generate the healing process.

PRP began began being used 20 years ago to help heal the wounds of cancer patients who needed jaw reconstruction. It went on to be used to repair injured joints, tendons and muscles and an array of other surgical procedures to promote healing.

But cosmetic surgeons have found a new use for the highly concentrated injections that is creating a whole new world for a woman’s sex life. The O shot is starting to gain traction in the mainstream market as one of the top vaginal rejuvenation treatments. The PRP is injected into the vaginal tissue, which is a nearly painless process with zero downtime.

The PRP injection will tighten the vaginal opening and smooth the skin around the vagina, increase arousal and intensity of orgasm, and stimulate natural lubrication and sexual desires. It is also proven to decrease dyspareunia (painful intercourse) and urinary incontinence.

PRP is done monthly for about 3-4 sessions and will last anywhere from 8 months to a year, depending on the skin type and age of the patient.

5 Essential Skin Care Tips for the End of Summer

5 Essential Skincare Tips for the End of Summer

A very hot summer is coming slowly but surely to an end, and while there are still plenty of sunny days left, it is a good idea to ensure your skin stays protected.

Here are 5 essential tips to keep your skin in perfect condition:

1. Consider a Change When It Comes to Your Facewash

As you move from winter to summer, you should remember that your facewash has to change. While in winters, a nourishing facewash does the trick, in summers, you would require a face wash that can draw out the excess oil from your skin.

2. Include Antioxidants in Your Facial Skin Care Routine

Invest in a good antioxidant serum during the summer. Not only does an antioxidant serumhydrate the skin, but it also protect your skin from environmental damage. It helps to boost collagen production and eliminates damage.

3. Keep Your Skin Hydrated At All Times

Remember that summer is the time when your skin requires moisture as well as hydration. Invest in a good hydrating mask which you use a couple of times a week. Wash your face first and apply the mask as directed at night to repair, rehydrate, and soothe your skin. A mask can treat specific skin conditions like dryness, acne, oil, etc.

4. Exfoliate Regularly for Smoother Skin

Exfoliation is the key to brighter and smoother skin. It removed dulling skin debris and piled up dead cells. This debris prevents the skin from breathing and can congest the skin. Exfoliate with a natural home remedy, like coffee grounds mixed with oil and sea salt.

5. Invest In A Good Sunscreen

Sunscreen should be your best friend during summers. Choose one that has a broad ultraviolet spectrum (between 30-50 SPF and covers UVA and UVB rays).

If you still want to do more for your skin, come visit us at our Medical Spa and treat yourself to a facial or medical grade skin treatment.

Everything You Need to Know About a Lip Lift

Everything you need to know about Lip Lift Surgery

Are you tired of getting lip filler? Do you want a permanent solution for defined and plump lips? A surgical lip lift is the next-level lip enhancing procedure. People often want to improve their lip volume and shape because they either have small lips since birth or their lips have lost their shape and projection with aging.
Dr. Kassir offers lip lifts for patients with the right indications and often combines them with other facial rejuvenating procedures (rhinoplasty, facelift, brow lift, chin augmentation, etc).

What is a Lip Lift?

The lip lift is a procedure that addresses the distance between the upper lip and the base of the nose. A lip lift is a surgical procedure that involves carefully excising a precisely measured area of skin right under your nose. By shortening the distance from the bottom of your nose to the tip of your lip, you recreate a youthful appearance. It creates a curved and aesthetic appearance. A lip lift enables more red lip and more teeth to show when you open your mouth and smile.

Am I a good candidate for a Lip Lift?

If you do not want to do lip fillers anymore and want a permanent way to enhance your lip, the upper lip is a good candidate for a lip lift. If you have a long distance between your upper lip and the tip of your nose (close to 2cm or 20 millimeters) is a good candidate for a lip lift. The longer the distance gets, the less aesthetic, attractive, and older you look.

Putting fillers into a long lip ends up pushing the lips out and down instead of lifting them upward.

Lip Lift vs Lip Filler?

Lip Lift

  • Shortens the distance between the base of the nose to the upper border of the lip

  • It makes the upper lip more concave and can lift corners of the mouth

  • Improve smile and shows off teeth

  • Reduce fine lines on the upper lip

  • Permanent enhancement, and most likely no more need for upper lip fillers

Lip Filler

  • Lip Augmentation can benefit patients who have always wished for a more plump pout

  • Adds definition and shape to lips that have lost volume

  • Balances out your facial features

  • Creates a younger and aesthetically pleasing profile

  • Non-Surgical enhancement: a good option for those who want full lips and have a good lip length

How is a Lip Lift performed?

Performed within 1 hour under local anesthesia, with minimal downtime, this procedure shortens the distance from the nose's base to the upper lip's upper border. The longer distance you have, the greater the lift will be.

How long do Lip Lift results last?

The results of a Lip Lift procedure are permanent and will adapt to the normal aging process.

How long is the recovery process after a Lip Lift?

Recovery after a lip lift is minimal - pain medication is not needed, and you can resume normal activity immediately after. Minimal swelling and redness is normal and will deter within a week. After the procedure is over you leave with small barely perceptible sutures underneath the base of your nose. Your sutures will be removed after 5 days and no downtime is required after.

What is the cost of a Lip Lift?

The cost of a Lip Lift varies on each case and if combined with other procedures. Visit our financing options and price list to get a starting cost estimate. Every lip lift requires a consultation with Dr. Kassir. The costs for the consultation will go towards the procedure.

How long does a Lip Lift procedure take?

A lip lift procedure typically takes about half an hour to an hour. We topically numb the inside of your mouth with a little bit of anesthetic on the inside and outside of your mouth. Dr. Kassir performs lip lifts under local anesthesia.

Can I get a Lip Lift even though I’ve had lip fillers?

Yes! You can get a lip lift even if you’ve had lip fillers done in the past. You can either wait until your lip fillers dissolve, melt the fillers or you could wash the fillers out during the lip lift. The timing of it you can discuss with your surgeon.

Can a Lip Lift change the shape of my lips?

Yes! A lip lift can change the shape of your lips by making the cupid's bow more defined and overall top lip have more definition. By lifting the lip upwards it creates a better proportion and more aesthetic.

Scars after a Lip Lift?

To modify the shape of the lip, you are going to be left with a scar underneath your nose, where the nose meets the upper lip. If done correctly, and meticulously it should fade away as time goes on. If the scar is still prominent, we have laser solutions - but for the most part, the scar after a lip lift should not be a problem.

Can I combine other cosmetic procedures with a Lip Lift?

You can! A lip lift is a very popular procedure that is often combined with facelift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, or other surgeries. It is a great detail that adds to facial balance and harmony.

How to Treat Scars After Plastic Surgery

Scars after plastic surgery are the number one concern for most patients. Especially patients that have surgery on the face worry about a scar that is an obvious giveaway. The incision usually runs along the temple hairline and down to the earlobe for facelift patients. Dr. Kassir is a pioneer of facelift surgery. He has mastered a technique that will lead to minimal scarring. But let's discuss what leads to scars, how to treat them and what they will look like after.

What is a scar?

Scars are the body's way of healing. Every full-thickness injury of the skin will lead to a scar of some sort. Scars can come in different forms and sizes. Ideally, they are a faint line that falls into a natural crease or fold. Surgeons can hide scars by placing them in hair-bearing areas. However, certain skin types or genetic dispositions can lead to more prominent and visible scars. These are so-called hypertrophic scars and, in rare instances, keloids. Plastic Surgeons dedicate an entire career to mastering techniques that decrease the scar appearance.

What are the different healing stages of a scar?

For the first few weeks, the scar will be darker based on everyone's skin type and be slightly raised. It will also feel thicker and hard. By three months, the scar will have reached its maximum strength. After 4-6 months, the scar will begin to fade, and the color will appear more like the surrounding skin. Next, the scar will begin to soften and flatten. After one year, the scar will have most of its final appearance.

What is the best care to avoid scars?

First, scars can not be avoided when all the layers of the skin get cut. However, when done right and with the proper care, scars often turn nearly invisible. Incisions usually heal best when the healing environment is slightly moist. For the first two weeks, a thin layer of Aquaphor or an antibiotic containing vaseline cremes such as Neosporin or Bacitracin are an excellent adjunct. After three weeks, silicone strips or cremes are a good way to trap moisture and promote wound healing. Patients should wear silicone sheets or cremes for up to 6 months. By that time, the scar has matured and will begin to fade. Make sure you avoid sun exposure and cover your incision areas to reduce the effects of ultraviolet radiation on the scar. Apply sunscreen over SPF 30 daily to

Where are the scars from a facelift?

Every facelift technique has its scar pattern. The scars might be fully hidden in the hairline or around the ear and neck. Dr. Kassir designs his facelift technique to achieve the best possible lift with the least scar. In a brow lift or ponytail facelift, Dr. Kassir uses an incision that is hidden in the temporal hairline. In a neck lift, the incision will run right along the hair border. In a mini facelift, the incision will only run along the natural crease of the ear. For examples, look at our before and after facelift gallery.

Does every facelift automatically lead to scars?

Not necessarily. Dr. Kassir invented the K-Lift, which uses suture suspension to lift the neck and face. This technique does not need an incision and will not lead to scarring. However, most facelifts require some incision to achieve the best possible result. The most important thing about a facelift is that you feel rejuvenated and look as young as you feel afterward. Dr. Kassir will design a plan that matches your goals and expectations.

What if a Scar widens or thickens?

There are many options to treat hypertrophic scars. Steroid injections can decrease the thickness and size of a scar. CO2 laser resurfacing can reduce the profile and appearance of most scars. Another option is a surgical scar revision. By cutting out the old scar, the body has a new attempt to form a more delicate scar. The tissue tension has decreased at this point, and the likelihood of a scar becoming less visible is higher.

Botox and Filler Risks featuring Dr. Ramtin Kassir on CBS This Morning

Dr. Kassir who is the pioneer of the Non Surgical Rhinoplasty (who performed his first NSR in 2006) talks to his former patient about her Botox and filler experience at her private nurse practitioner’s office. The filler that was injected into her nose hit a blood vessel.

”I’m looking in the mirror...and I think I am turning purple!”

Dr. Ramtin Kassir treated the patient after her filler complication.

"Injecting in the face could be dangerous because if you get into any of these blood vessels, it can end up in the eye, it can end up in the forehead, it can end up in the nose," Kassir said.

While even the most experienced doctor can hit a blood vessel, Kassir said it's critical to have filler-dissolving medicine at arm's reach.

"We preload it into these syringes," he said. "So I don't even have to stop and draw it out."

Dr. Kassir gives us the Top Ten Facts about Non Surgical Rhinoplasty

  1. Filler is injected into the nose to camouflage a bump, lift the tip, make the nose narrower and make it look more aesthetic.

  2. Make sure the filler is NOT a permanent filler like silicone!

  3. Dr. Kassir pioneered this procedure in 2006 and has done thousands since then. Regardless of who you go to, your physician should be an expert in nonsurgical Rhinoplasty AND Surgical Rhinoplasty!!! There are no shortcuts to quality.

  4. Noses look smaller and better even though filler is being added to the nose.

Lip Filler After Care

Lip Filler After Care: 3 Tips you need to know

Congratulations! You’ve done it! You’ve gotten your lip fillers. Now its time to take care for your lips!

Lip filler aftercare tip #1: Don’t expect fullness to stay the same.

  • Swelling after your lip filler treatment is completely normal and the size of your lips immediately after treatment is not a true reflection of the final result.

  • Minor swelling can last between a few hours or one to two days.

Lip filler aftercare #2: How to reduce the swelling after lip fillers.

  • Apply ice to treated area

  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

  • Focus on eating healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables. The vitamins and minerals will assist with the healing process.

Lip filler aftercare tip #3: Leave plenty of time for injectables prior to a big event.

  • It’s always best to start a new treatment well before a big event. We recommend that you allow a few weeks for your cosmetic injectable treatment to settle.

What to avoid

  • Avoid strenuous exercise and extreme hot temperatures for 24-48 hours post treatment.

  • Avoid processed foods or fast foods.

  • Heavy activity or exercise for the first two days after treatment

  • Spicy foods

  • Blood-thinning medications, including aspirin and ibuprofen (unless prescribed by your medical practitioner then please continue with these)

  • Smoking and smoke exposure

Non Surgical Rhinoplasty for Saddle Nose Deformity

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty for Saddle Nose deformity

Non Surgical Rhinoplasty by Dr. Kassir.

Dr. Kassir went Instagram LIVE! with his patient and performed a Non Surgical Rhinoplasty.
It literally took only a few minutes with no pain! No surprise since Dr.Kassir pioneered this procedure in 2006.Our lovely patient here had a previous Rhinoplasty years ago in Mexico and developed wha’s called a Saddle Nose. It happens when too much cartilage and bone is removed and the nose loses support and caves in causing saddling. It can also be associated with nasal trauma and cocaine use. Whatever the cause, it is characterized by a loss of height of the nose,(the bridge of the nose sags in the middle) which causes a collapse.

An excellent way to treat a Saddle Nose is with a surgical Rhinoplasty Revision; in her case, we treated it nonsurgically with fillers so she can immediately look better at her son’s wedding in 3 weeks will plan a surgical revision in the future.
